How to get more comments

If you’re not doing this, it’s time to start...

Ever scroll through a post and notice comments sitting proudly at the top with 📌 emojis?

That’s not random.

Those are pinned comments.

And if you’re not using them yet, it’s time to start.

Let me tell you why I pin comments on every single post I make and how this tiny tweak can drive big results for you too.

Why pinned comments matter

Pinned comments aren’t just decoration.

They’re a secret weapon for engagement and connection.

Here’s what they do:

  1. Provide value
Think of them as a mini extension of your post. You can share a behind-the-scenes detail, clarify a point, or add bonus tips.

  2. Boost engagement
People notice the pinned comment first, and if it’s intriguing, they’re more likely to reply or react. This creates a ripple effect, pulling more people into the conversation.

  3. Build connection
A pinned comment can feel personal, like a note left just for your audience. It’s a subtle way of showing, “Hey, I’m here to chat.”

How to pin comments like a pro

LinkedIn no longer offers this as an official feature, so you’ll need to do it manually.

Here’s your step-by-step guide:

  1. Go to your post

  2. Add the pin emoji (📌)

  3. Write your pinned comment

It will appear at the top by default.

Do this 10 min after you post (it’s important that you’re not the first one to comment under your posts).

What makes a great pinned comment?

Your pinned comments can be anything, as long as it adds to the post or sparks interaction.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Personal notes: Share something you couldn’t fit into the main post.

  • Funny memes: Who doesn’t love a laugh?

  • Call to action: Ask a question, invite replies, or encourage people to check a link.

  • Bonus info: Got extra tips or insights? Drop them here!

Small tweak, big impact

Pinned comments are a low-effort way to level up your posts and keep the conversation going.

Try it out on your next post.

Pin something thoughtful, funny, or interactive and watch the engagement roll in.

Start pinning, start winning.

Your audience (and your stats) will thank you.

Cheers,
Dan
