Stop connecting on LinkedIn.
How I built a top 1% network:
Most people think growing a network means adding more connections.
I used to believe that too.
But I realized that connections without conversations do not lead anywhere.
Networking is not about collecting contacts.
It is about building relationships.
So instead of just connecting, I started engaging.
That changed everything.
Here is exactly what worked:
1. Show support
Before expecting anything, I gave first.
I commented on posts, shared insights, and celebrated wins.
Over time, this built familiarity and trust.

2. Have coffee chats
A quick call can turn an online connection into a real relationship.
No sales pitch.
Just a genuine conversation.

3. Host live events
Even a small webinar or LinkedIn Live can position you as a go-to person in your field.
It also attracts like-minded people who want to engage.

4. Join networking calls
Finding peers with similar goals makes the journey easier.
Regular calls with people in my space helped me grow faster.

5. Set up collaborations
Networking is a two-way street.
I teamed up with people in my industry, co-created content, and reached new audiences.

6. Offer help before asking for it
I stopped thinking only about what I could get.
Instead, I focused on how I could help.
The more I gave, the more opportunities came my way.

The real key is consistency
I did not see results overnight.
But by showing up, supporting others, and building trust, I created a network that was not just big but valuable.
And guess what?
The same people I helped ended up helping me.
Some became a loyal part of my community.
Some turned into friends.
And some even became my clients.
If you are on LinkedIn just adding names to your list, try this instead:
Focus on building real relationships.
It takes effort, but it is 100% worth it.
Cheers,
Dan
